Hello everyone,

Most people have experienced such a thing: the password of the router at home is leaked for no reason, the neighbors easily link to the router at home and use the network resources that should belong to us, bringing our Internet experience. a lot of trouble. Some people even changed their passwords 3 times a day, but they were still successfully hacked by their neighbors.

How to prevent others from connecting to your WiFi

In fact, most routers can set trustlists and blocklists. We can add devices of ourselves and family members to the trustlist, and add devices of neighbors to the blocklist. This prevents neighbors from connecting to the Wi-Fi networks.

In this topic discussion, so let's talk about how to set up your own router to prevent others from connecting.

Following steps can be made to protect your wifi from other's use.

Launch a browser and enter the router IP address.
Log in with the credentials.
Click on Wireless or Advanced Menu, then Security.
Click on MAC Filter.
Add the MAC address you want to block access for in the filter list.

Thank you for sharing!
  1. Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your router’s network.

  2. A login window opens.

  3. Enter the router user name and password.
The user name is admin and the default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
    The BASIC Home page displays.

  4. Select ADVANCED > Security > Access Control.

  5. Select the Turn on Access Control check box.
You must select this check box before you can specify an access rule and use the Allow and Block buttons. When this check box is cleared, all devices are allowed to connect, even if a device is in the blocked list.

  6. To specify an access rule, select one of the following radio buttons:

  • Allow all new devices to connect. With this setting, a new device can access your network. You don't need to enter its MAC address in this screen.

  • Block all new devices from connecting. With this setting, a new device cannot access your router’s Internet connection, but can still access your router’s local network. Before a device accesses your router’s Internet connection, you must enter its MAC address for an Ethernet connection and its MAC address for a WiFi connection in the allowed list.
The access rule does not affect previously blocked or allowed devices. It applies only to devices joining your network in the future after you apply these settings.

To view allowed or blocked devices that are not connected, click one of the following links:

  • View list of allowed devices not currently connected to the network

  • View list of blocked devices not currently connected to the network
    The list displays.

To allow the computer or device you’re currently using to continue to access your network, select the check box next to your computer or device.

Some unconventional way is reduce power if you don't need more coverage. They cant attack if they cant get strong signal

Also update your firmware. Sometimes it can contain some bugs that can lead to security risks. The updated versions generally fix these bugs
