How to restore factory settings? Access level is mistakenly set to 15. Only diagnostic mode is available.

Restoring the Switch to Factory Default

You can restore the factory default of the configuration file or the switch depending on the scenario.

Restoring the Factory Configuration of the Configuration File Using the PNP Button

If you press and hold the PNP button for more than 6s, the device restores the default settings and restarts automatically.

  • This operation will enable the function of logging in through the console port.

  • This operation clears the service configuration and data files, which is the same as the function of the reset factory-configuration command.

  • This operation will not delete the protected directory and protected/$_default.cfg file.

  • If the protected/$_default.cfg file exists, this operation will set the $_default.cfg file as the configuration file for next startup. If the file does not exist, the configuration file for next startup is empty.

  • If dedicated cables are used to set up a stack, remove the cables from one end first. Otherwise, the stack will be set up again after the switch restarts.

  • By default, holding the PNP button on any device in a stack will restore the device to the default settings and automatically restart the device. To clear the service configurations and data files of the stack, run the pnp-button mode reset-system command to configure the device behavior after the PNP button is pressed and held.

Restoring the Switch to Factory Default in One-Click Mode

If you want to clear all service configurations and data files, run the following command to restore the switch to factory default in one-click mode.

  1. In the user view, run reset factory-configuration.

The switch is reset and restored to factory default settings.
    download?uuid=daacd3669fcd4f0f8312b8b4d1c4f9c0

This command restores the factory configuration of the system configuration file and clears all service configurations and data files of a switch. Exercise caution when running this command.

  2. In the user view, run display factory-configuration reset-result.

The result of the latest factory default restoration of the switch is displayed.
