Hello Friends,
Today I would like to share some knowledge about Huawei VCN.
Introduction to VCN3010 & VCN 3020:
Video Cloud Network (VCN) is an image & video storage, distribution, processing and management product by Huawei. Huawei VCN has the capability of integration with surveillance devices, video storage, video play back, forwarding & backup retrieving of images or videos data. In a nutshell, VCN acts as a management tool for storage, access, transfer and backups of images and video.
Under VCN series, VCN3010 & VCN3020 are two models that are different in terms of media transfer rate. VCN3010 has transfer rate of 512Mbps for storage and forwarding of the data. Whereas, VCN3020 can transfer the images or videos data with 1024Mbps rate.
Hardware Components of VCN3010 & VCN 3020:
Hardware components of both VCN3010 & VCN3020 are same except a 10GE port that is available in VCN3020 for higher transfer rate purposes. Other than this port, both VCN models have monitoring indicators, ports and buttons on rear and front panels of the devices. On front panel, the devices contain power button, fault diagnosis LEDs, system’s health indicators and Hard disk active/fault indicators. On rear panel, the devices contain system and rear hard disks, management port, USB 3.0 port, VGA and serial ports, service monitoring and PSU ports. Moreover, rear side has PSU indicator, connectivity indicator and data transmission status bar as well. Red or Green colors and blinking or stable status of these indicators indicate normal or faulty working status of the respective parameters.

Software Components of VCN3010 & VCN 3020:
The software component of VCN3010 & VCN3020 is based upon IVS platform. IVS Platform is established on 4 layers. First, Presentation layer that is responsible for configurations and operations. It has two components i-e C/S client and OMU Portal. Former provides configuration options regarding videos views & playback etc. Whereas, latter is for basic configurations of networking and clusters. Second is control layer that consists on various sub-components. The key purpose of this layer is controlling of signals and alarms. This as primary role when connection to any third party devices or domains is concerned. Third layer in IVS architecture is Media layer. Media layer is to control and process media. All the storage, distribution, quality analysis, downloading, forwarding, stopping and play back functions are performed through this very layer in the IVS architecture. Last but not the least, Management layer acts as services manager in for VCN. It is used for monitoring of performance, configurations, patch & software upgrades and connectivity to any centralized Network Management System (NMS). As the cluster of nodes in the VCN are distributed and sometime load sharing and load balancing is also required, management layer also performs these functions equally well. The Service Monitoring Unit (SMU) in the management layer is responsible for authentication of users, signaling routing and modes management of different interconnected and integrated domains of VCN.
Service layer is term that is used for the combination of Management, Control and Media layers. Presentation layer & Service layer, the software components of VCN, are connected to the hardware component through LINUX. LINUX acts as an operating systems of Hardware servers and disks. These components are well integrated for foolproof functioning of all committed VCN services.
