Hello every one!
I would like to talk about the Handover process In LTE networks, their types and stages.
Handover
Handover is responsible for carrying out and making a call or connecting to the Internet while moving between mobile stations (eNB), Thus, we can connect continuously without losing connection.

Types of Handover based on frequency
1- Intra-frequency Handover.
If the same frequency is used for handover work, whether between sectors at the same station (eNB) or between different stations (eNB).
2- Inter-frequency Handover.
If you use another frequency.
Types of Handover based on the devices that do the Handover process
1- Intra-eNB Handover:
It takes place between sectors within the same station.
2- Inter-eNB Handover:
Between wireless stations, here it is possible to handover directly between stations through x2 interface, which is the direct link between wireless stations (called direct tunnel), or through s1 interface, which is the link between wireless stations and the core network (MME and SGW) (called indirect tunnel).
3- Inter-RAT Handover:
Between different types of mobile stations, a handover can be done between 4G LTE stations and between 3rd or 2nd generation UMTS/GSM stations.

Handover process stages
1- Measurement phase:
In which mobile devices measure the strength of the received signal RSRP from various nearby wireless stations or measure the quality of the connection RSRQ.
2-Evaluation:
And in which the UE mobile devices compare the measured values with specific values that the network sends to them thresholds and if some conditions are met, the UE mobile devices are sent to the eNB station.
3- Preparation:
The wireless station communicates with the other station and prepares for the Handover.
4- Execution:
It is the transfer of the call or internet connection to the new wireless station Target eNB and this stage ends with clearing the data of the mobile device from the first station serving eNB.
thanks,
