1. Thank you for accepting our invitation! If someone would have told you that you’d end up choosing the ICT path, would you have believed them?
Yes sure,
I have aspired for it from a young age, I did not have much knowledge about this field, but I had the desire and that was enough.
2. The technical field is traditionally perceived as being a male-dominated one. Would you say that you’ve ever encountered any gender stereotypes? If yes, how did you manage them?
“In fact, yes.
I encountered those stereotypes.
In my community, they prefer a woman to be a pharmacist or a teacher, because they think that is comfortable for women.
I did not find myself in those disciplines, I listened to the voice of my mind, and I chose the path of information and communication technology.
I currently hold a management position in MIS Department in the first telecom company in my country “Syriatel”, and I’m very proud of that.
3. Why women need technology and technology needs women?
Technology speaks to the human mind, not to human gender.
Technology is a wide and open world for everyone.
You can contribute to technology development, and use it as well.
Likewise, women can either contribute or use technology or both.
4. Tell us about the greatest challenge in your career so far. What was the most challenging part of your work and how did you deal with it?
The field of technology is full of challenges and difficulties, especially if you live in a place which suffers of a lack of the basic technology elements, and this in itself is a very difficult challenge.
You have to think about how you can make a difference through these few resources, how to build a strong team, how you can use internal expertise to develop new Software, you can accelerate and develop your business through it.
This is what I am currently working on.
5. What do you like about your work?
Challenge, regeneration, ability to analyze. Yes, this is what I like most about ICT. Feeling renewed and open with every technology released or program that you develop.
6. What professional achievements are you proud of?
I am part of a distinguished team. We have all developed and tested several communications software.
Now I am leading a software development team in the field of automated testing. We are all in advanced stages of work, and I am proud of that.
Soon it will be released, besides that, I’m having a Master in Business Administration as a part of my beliefs to not stop learning forever.
Also, I am a member of the MVE program in the Huawei Global Forum, I feel so proud about it.
7. What
are you short term plans when it comes to your work?
I
plan to develop the skills of the team that I lead, in order to be able to
achieve and develop assistive technology.
I am also working on developing a roadmap for new programs, which will
facilitate the work, and shorten a lot of time, I hope so.
8. What about the long term ones?
I aspire to build a company specialized in technology, analysis and testing.
I don’t have clear plan for that so far, it is only my ambition. It could one day turn into reality.
9. Would you say that your actions and achievements inspired other people? How?
Yes, I can say that. When you are a head or a team leader, you need to be an inspirational person. The team draws strength from you. There is no place for weakness or lethargy, you are a leader.
You have to be their source of strength and drive them to achieve.
10. Tell us a reason for which women should feel empowered to choose the ICT path!
ICT needs patience, a great capacity for analysis and a passion, women possess these qualities in great proportions. The choice for the ICT path will definitely be successful.
11. What other activities do you occupy your time with?
I have just finished my MSc in Enterprise Systems Management. Currently, I am studying for the Master’s Degree of Business Administration. Technology needs to be managed and that's what motivated me to study. Also, there is a time dedicated to my family. I have a child who has completed his first year, and he needs to be aware of the world around him. My husband and I are working together to look after our little one. It must be noted that my husband is also a communications and information engineer, and this is what helped me a lot in coordinating my time between my work and my family.
12. How would you say that our community has helped you out so far?
Imagine meeting various experiences, a vast world of information and advanced technologies in a one easy-to-reach place.
This is the Huawei community, there are many experts working to provide solutions to problems as quickly as possible, publish recent articles on new technologies and develop tools that facilitate our work.
Thanks to the Huawei community.
13. What are you proud of achieving here on the Huawei Enterprise Support Community?
To be a distinguished member of the Huawei community is a great achievement. This is how I felt when I joined the program.
The MVE program members are distinguished and the HESC manager "Irina" is a great woman. Proud to be part of this team.
In the Huawei Enterprise Community, we value skills, talents and passion for the technical area. If you’ve enjoyed this interview, we invite you to check our other interview series, such as the HCIExcellence and MVExcellence projects.
