High-density APs are applicable to high-density scenarios such as the lecture hall, stadium, and airport departure lounge, for example, Huawei AP4050DN-HD and AP8050TN-HD.
A common misunderstanding about high-density APs is that the access capability of a high-density AP is higher than that of a common AP. In fact, if a high-density AP and a common AP are both dual-radio APs and have the same MIMO capability, their access capacities are basically the same.
As shown in the following figure, in a high-density scenario, to provide access to more users, high-density APs use small-angle antennas rather than provide a higher access capacity. In this way, the same space can accommodate more APs, with less inter-AP interference but higher air interface access bandwidth. Therefore, more users can access the network in high-density scenarios.
Huawei provides two high-density APs: AP4050DN-HD and AP8050TN-HD. They are suitable for scenarios where the user density is high and the AP installation position is high, such as the lecture hall, stadium, and airport departure lounge.
l The AP4050DN-HD has two radios, with the built-in antenna angles of 30° x 30° @ 2.4 GHz and 30° x 30° @ 5 GHz.
l The AP8050TN-HD has three radios, with the built-in antenna angles of 40° x 40° @ 2.4 GHz, 27° x 27° @ 5 GHz-1, and 27° x 27° @ 5 GHz-2.
In outdoor scenarios, the AP8050TN-HD is recommended. In indoor scenarios, the AP4050DN-HD is recommended at a height of 6–15 m, and the AP8050TN-HD is recommended at a height of 10–25 m.
