WLAN firmware and Patch Upgrade

I'll just share on how to upgrade an AC and AP.

This will also tackle on how to upgrade multiple APs via GUI.

Below is the current version and the target version :

We will be upgrading the AC to version V200R010C00SPC700 + V200R010C00SPC700

and AP to version V200R010C00SPC800

Note: Remember to backup files!

Steps:

1. Download the target firmware and patch version on https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/index.html

2. After downloading the file, transfer the file (software version,patch and configuration file) to the AC6605 via ftp or sftp.

3. Verify if the files have been transferred by executing command dir on AC6605

4. Upgrade AC

1.       Specify the upgrade software package,patch and configuration file for next startup.

<AC6605> startup system-software <systemfile>

<AC6605> startup saved-configuration <configurationfile)

<AC6605> patch load flash:\<file> all

<AC6605> patch active all

2.       Run the display startup command to verify that the upgrade software package and

configuration file for next startup are correct.

After upgrading AC, we will upgrade 1 AP first (recommended nearby) to test service. This will also facilitate easier rollback if there are issues.

AP Upgrade commands:

wlan

ap update load ap-id <#> update-filename <systemfile>

ap update reset ap-id <#>

To verify if upgraded successfully:

use command "dis ap all"

Make sure that the state of the AP is "normal"

Otherwise, do rollback.

Multiple AP Upgrade

proceed only to this step once Single AP upgrade is success.

AC6605 version V200R010C00SPC700 has GUI. We will upgrade the APs via GUI of the AC.

Type the ip address of the AC on your browser and input the username and password.

Next, click Maintenance > Device Upgrade

Click on AP upgrade, then click on New Upgrade Task

For this example, we will upgrade the other APs by ap type take note that you can also upgrade APs via AP group as you can see from the image below.

After selecting the APs to be upgraded, specify the version the AP will be upgraded to. For this example, V200R010C00SPC800.bin is selected.

After selecting, click ok.

If the upgrade is success, you may now restart the APs.

Once the restart is done, your APs are now upgraded to the latest software version. (Check upgrade status).
