Wired LAN ports on 8045q - how can I use the TA port?

I received a 8045q as part of my new internet connection. It has four wired ports, LAN1-3 and a mysterious TA. The manual (Japanese) says that I can connect phones and fax machines with "TA functionality" to the TA port.

My question: Can I also connect general devices, such as computers?

My first trial failed. I connected a computer, but it doesn't seem to have connectivity. No problem with one of the LAN1-3 ports.

Is there a way to configure the TA port so that it can be used by other devices than telephones?

This is one Japanese operator's customized device.

This port is defined by the operator to be used for VOICE.

Could you please kindly contact your ISP to help change the configuration?
