Hello, everyone!

As a supplement to the ONT basic knowledge, I begin to introduce a series of basic Wi-Fi knowledge.

Today, I will share knowledge about Wi-Fi security.

WIFI

Nowadays, Wi-Fi squatters are everywhere. However, when enjoying the convenience of Wi-Fi, many people lack Wi-Fi security awareness. As a result, Wi-Fi access may undergo various network traps and phishing frauds.

Authentication and Encryption Modes

With the mature application of 802.11i (wireless security standards), WLAN security technologies are becoming comprehensive and advanced. The following table lists the main authentication and encryption modes, among which WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK are the most widely used.

It is suggested

This mode is more secure than WEP.

Additionally, no

costly.

Home Wi-Fi security

The speed of wireless router password cracking depends not only on software but also on hardware. It is almost impossible to crack a complex password. In addition, the following measures can be taken to ensure Wi-Fi security:

1. Use the WPA or WPA2 encryption mode. These two modes are secure and most commonly used.

2. Change the router background account password and Wi-Fi password periodically.

3. Enable SSID hiding to prevent the Wi-Fi network from being detected.

4. Enable the MAC address filtering function and whitelist frequently used devices.

5. Install security software on mobile phones and computers.

Public Wi-Fi security

1. Disable automatic Wi-Fi connection.

When you do not access the Internet, remember to turn off the Wi-Fi function of your smart phone to protect the phone against Wi-Fi phishing attacks. In addition, change the Wi-Fi connection mode to manual.

2. Do not connect to unknown Wi-Fi.

Some phishing Wi-FI networks use public Wi-Fi names such as an airport or cafe name to confuse people and steal sensitive information such as passwords from mobile phones.

3. Do not use a strange Wi-Fi network.

When using public Wi-Fi, do not log in to an account related to payment and assets by using a password. If required, switch the data channel of the mobile phone to a mobile communications network.

4. Use Wi-Fi security software to check security before Wi-Fi connection.

That's all for today's basic knowledge sharing.

Welcome to leave a message at the bottom of the forum.

Thank you!
