Why Is the Multicast Source Register Message Still Forwarded After the register-policy Command Is Configured on the RP to Discard the Register Message?
This command should be configured in proper time. If the RPT has been switched to be the SPT when the register-policy command is being configured, packet forwarding is only based on the SPT. After the register-policy command is configured, the multicast source register message is filtered out and the RPT entry is aged. The SPT entry, however, still exists. Thus, packets can still be forwarded.
