Why can eSight still receive alarms after alarm masking is enabled on device ports?

After you select Disable Alarm Reporting on the NE Manager, devices are disabled from reporting alarms.

eSight periodically polls port status of network-wide devices and automatically generates alarms when the port status changes. These alarms are also displayed in the current alarm list. As a result, an alarm exists in the current alarm list although a device does not report a port status change. If you require that the alarm not be displayed in the current alarm list, mask this alarm by setting masking rules on the Masking Rule page.
Choose Monitor > Fault Management > Alarm Settings from the main menu.
Choose Masking Rule in the navigation tree, and set alarm masking rules as required.
