Hello,

Why can BGP publish a black blackhole route over aggregate+network devices?

Thanks!

Hello,

BGP does not generate routes. It is only a route mover. BGP does not generate routes. BGP devices add only optimal routes to the BGP routing table. Route sources include direct routes, static routes, and dynamic routing protocols. The blackhole route is essentially a static route. You can consider it as a special static route. As long as the route is optimal in the routing table, it can be added to the BGP routing table by running the network command or the import command. Blackhole routes can be imported not only to BGP but also to other dynamic routing protocols. This solution is mainly used to solve the loop problem of multiple links.

Hope to help you!

Hello,

Create a blackhole route ip route-static x.x.x.x x.x.x.x NULL0 on the device.
Then, BGP can add the Agg+Network blackhole route, why can I do this?

There are some real pracitcal uses to use null routes on edges, for example draw all rfc1918 traffic to inside at the edge but drop when there is no more specific IGP route. In that way you will never have to worry about internal routing again and IGP routiging on the inside networks will be your only concern.
