Static routes are easy to configure, have low requirements on the system, and apply to simple, stable, and small networks. However, static routes cannot automatically adapt to network topology changes. Therefore, human intervene is required in this case. Dynamic routing protocols have their own routing algorithms. Therefore, dynamic routes can automatically adapt to network topology changes and apply to networks with a large number of Layer 3 devices. Dynamic route configurations are complex. Dynamic routes have higher requirements on a system and consume more network resources than static ones do.
