  Rewarded HiCoins: 5 (problem resolved)

Hi,

We had some tested in new network topology. We have 2 CE6881 switch with stack. All tests (like port shutdown, reset stack member etc) are successfull except device reboot tests.

When we physically reboot master device in stack with power-off and power-on, we lost test traffic on Stack switches.

Before physical reboot, we checked stack configuration, stack membership and interface's UP/DOWN statements. If they are OK, we did the reboot process. But until the master device become UP (3-5 minutes) we lost traffic and connection to other device.

There is possibility that we reboot device before "switchover state is not READY". So I have 2 questions.

1-To switchover or reset slot or physical reboot a stack master/salve where should we check the state is ready?

If we see display switchover state result is ready, we can reboot master without problem right?

2-When we make the physical reboot, I am not sure the state is ready. So in such case that we reboot master, if switchover state is NOT READY, what will happen? Because we lost all traffic in reboot, maybe this is the problem that we faced.

Hi tolga,
Before performing an active/standby switchover, run the display switchover state command to check the backup status of the master and standby switches to determine whether an active/standby switchover can be performed. You can perform an active/standby switchover only when the system is in the Ready backup state.
If the switchover state is NOT READY, traffic is not switched to the standby switch during the restart of the active switch, and services are interrupted.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for fast answer :) Most probably we physically reboot the master device while switchover state is not ready. That's why we faced this situation. Next time, we will test them considering the switchover state.
Thank you :)
