Symptom

A login attempt to an AR router through the web system fails.

Troubleshooting Procedure

Check whether the entered IP address is correct.

Check whether the URL entered in the browser is correct. If not, enter the correct URL https://192.168.1.1.

Check whether the PC and AR router can ping each other successfully.

On the CLI of the PC, Run the ping 192.168.1.1 command to check whether the PC can ping the AR router successfully. If Request timeout is displayed, the PC and AR router cannot ping each other.

PC>ping 192.168.1.1
Ping 192.168.1.1: 32 data bytes, Press Ctrl_C to break

 5 packet(s) transmitted
 0 packet(s) received
 100.00% packet loss

In this case, configure an IP address on the PC. The IP address ranges from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, and the default gateway address is 192.168.1.1, as shown in Figure 1-4. Check whether the AR router can be pinged successfully. If so, no further action is required. If not, continue troubleshooting.

Press and hold the RST button on the AR router for more than 5 seconds to restore the factory settings. Then check whether the AR router can be pinged successfully. If so, no further action is required. If not, continue troubleshooting.

Check whether the network cable is loose or faulty. If so, connect the network cable again or replace the network cable, and then check whether the AR router can be pinged successfully.

If the following information is displayed, the PC and AR router can ping each other successfully.

PC>ping 192.168.1.1
Ping 192.168.1.1: 32 data bytes, Press Ctrl_C to break
From 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 seq=1 ttl=255 time=187 ms

From 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 seq=3 ttl=255 time=16 ms
From 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 seq=4 ttl=255 time=47 ms
From 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 seq=5 ttl=255 time=16 ms

--- 192.168.1.1 ping statistics ---

Check whether the user name and password are correct.

If the system displays a message indicating an incorrect user name or password when you enter the default user name admin and default password admin@huawei.com to log in to the AR router, use the user name admin and password Admin@huawei to log in to the AR router again.

If the message is displayed again, press and hold the RST button on the AR router for more than 5 seconds to restore the factory settings. Then log in to the AR router again.
