Hello everyone!

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are the most familiar things to us, and we use them almost every day. Since we use these two functions so often, would there be a better feature if we combine them? In fact, it already exists, and that's Wi-Fi Direct.

Today, I'm going to give you a preliminary look at what Wi-Fi direct is and compare it with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to see what benefits it has.

What is Wi-Fi Direct?

Wi-Fi Direct is a technology that allows devices such as computers or smartphones to connect directly to each other wirelessly.

Wi-Fi Direct enables devices to establish direct communication using the radio and makes it easy to quickly transfer files, print, play games, and even display video content on other devices.

Wi-Fi Direct can be used to connect basically anything wirelessly without having to connect your device to a traditional wireless network.

To better understand what Wi-Fi Direct is, here is a demo video produced by the Wi-Fi Alliance, which created and certified Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct:

What is the difference between Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct?

Before Wi-Fi Direct, there was the "regular" Wi-Fi that we used most often. Wi-Fi is a widely used wireless communication technology that is most widely used to access the Internet.

The most common way we use Wi-Fi on a daily basis is to connect to a wireless router and access the internet through this device. A Wi-Fi router is a physical device that creates an access point that you can see on your phone or computer when you look for a network to connect to. Select the Wi-Fi name you want to connect to, enter the password, and then you can access the network.

But in some cases, we don't need to be connected to the Internet, we just want to connect two devices and share some data between them, such as sending files, photos, etc. At this point, we can do this with Wi-Fi Direct.

Therefore, with reference to the foregoing, the main differences between Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi are as follows:

Wi-Fi Direct works directly between devices, eliminating the need for routers and traditional wireless networks.

Wi-Fi Direct won't give you access to the Internet.

What is the difference between Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth?

Bluetooth, which has been around since 1998. It addresses the need to send data wirelessly to nearby devices without other hardware. Bluetooth is great for connecting external devices to a computer (such as a mouse, keyboard, or wireless headset) because they do not require fast data transfer. Bluetooth is not a fast technology and setting it up isn't very easy.

Wi-Fi Direct is different, it has high speed and is easier to configure. Since Wi-Fi Direct builds on "regular" Wi-Fi, it has the same advantages: Wi-Fi Direct offers faster speeds and wireless coverage than Bluetooth can provide.
