Hello, dear!
I hope you will have a good harvest in your study.
A non–universal transcoding MCU works in forwarding mode. Generally, all participants (conference terminals) in a conference must use the same video protocol, rate, and format. If a participant with a low capability exists, the conference can be held only at the lowest capability. The video capability is affected if participants support different protocols or formats or their access bandwidths are different.
A universal transcoding MCU allocates resources for each participant separately, supports full encoding and decoding, and enables participants to access the MCU in different protocols, formats, and bandwidths. In this way, each participant accesses the MCU with the optimal video capability.
A universal transcoding MCU supports intelligent presentation adaptation. When participants with different presentation capabilities or participants without the presentation capability access the MCU, the MCU performs intelligent adaptation and is compatible with multiple presentation formats, such as H.264, H.264 HP, H.263, and H.263+. If a participant does not have the presentation capability, the video channel is used to transmit the presentation to the participant.
