Hello, everyone!
Q:
What is the usage of EDFA in the CATV network?
A:
Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) carries cable TV (CATV) signals on optical distribution networks (ODNs) and transmits broadcast TV, PON voice, and broadband services to provide fiber to the home (FTTH) and CATV video services quickly.
Context
EDFA is designed for the MSO to converge CATV services and broadband services. In the MSO solution, the EDFA multiplexes CATV and PON signals and transmits the multiplexed signals over the same optical fiber. In addition, one transmitter can connect multiple terminal groups. This reduces the network construction costs.
Drop-down List Description
Menu Item | Description | |
|---|---|---|
Browse Current Alarms | Browses the current alarm information about a device, including the level, source, and time when the alarm is reported to the U2000 of the current alarm. Views the running status of the device by browsing the alarm information to manage and maintain the device. | |
Browse History Alarm | Allows you to understand the faults that occur on the equipment in a past period of time by browsing historical alarms. A historical alarm refers to an alarm that is already cleared. | |
Synchronize NE Configuration Data | Synchronizes NE configuration data and updates NE data on the U2000 to the latest for unified maintenance and management. | |
Tool | Ping | Sends ping packets to a remote host to check whether it is reachable. To check the network connectivity or the line quality, perform this operation. |
Tracert | Tests the route that is passed by data packets sent from a source host to the destination host. To track the route that is passed by data packets and locate the network fault, perform this operation. After running the ping command to test the network and detect a fault, you can run the tracert command to locate the fault on the network. | |
Reset Main Board | Resets the main board to diagnose faults when the main board is faulty or to set the values of some performance statistics items to 0. | |
Restore HFA Configuration | Restores the device to the HFA configuration to diagnose service failure causes by eliminating the probability of invalid configurations. NOTICE: This operation will affect all users of the device or all services on the device, and even interrupt the U2000 from managing the device. Exercise caution. | |
Set Log Backup | Exports the log files of devices to the SFTP server for backup. If a device is faulty, you can check the device logs to diagnose the fault. | |
Config Telnet Switch | Specifies whether to enable the Telnet function of a device. After the Telnet function is enabled, you can use Telnet commands to maintain the device remotely, simplifying the device O&M. | |
Thank you!
