The following figure shows the procedure that a fit AP registers with an AC when they are connected directly or over a Layer 2 network.
The registration procedure is as follows:
- The fit AP obtains a Fit AP IP address and DHCP server IP address from the DHCP server.
- The fit AP broadcasts a Discovery Request message at Layer 2 to attempt to associate with an AC.
- After receiving the Discovery Request message, the AC checks whether the fit AP has the access right. If the fit AP is authorized, the AC replies with a Discovery Response message.
- The fit AP downloads the latest software version from the AC.
- The fit AP downloads the latest configurations from the AC.
- The fit AP exchanges service data packets with the AC.
