What is the function of the avoid-feedback parameter in the IS-IS summary command

Hello all,
There are two directly connected routers configured with IS-IS. Configure IS-IS route summarization on Router A. The LSDB on Peer Router B does not change regardless of whether the avoid-feedback parameter is configured. (The aggregated LSP can be received). Configure the same route summarization on B with avoid-feedback. The LSDB of B can still learn the summarized route sent from A.
So what's is the real function of the parameter avoid-feedback?
Any idea would be helpful. Thanks.
