The implementation principles of optical-layer ASON and electrical-layer ASON are basically the same. The difference is that they have different levels of protection. Optical-layer ASON mainly protects OCh trails. The core board is the ROADM board. Electrical-layer protection mainly protects ODUk services. The core board is an electrical cross-connect board.
Since they are protected at different levels, comparisons cannot be made.
Whether the OTU solution supports optical-layer and electrical-layer ASON depends on whether the hardware and software that support the ASON function are installed at the site.
Currently, the OTN technology provided by Huawei supports two types of ASON protection.
