Hello Colleagues,

What is the Difference Between Open System and Integrated Color System in WDM? I am really confused about the concept for each of these.

Picture is attached for reference.

Open vs Integrated

Dear friend!
You can interpret it as Colored and Colorless.
Colorless: Any port can be configured with optical transceivers of any wavelength. When wavelengths need to be changed, only software configuration is required.
Colored: Wavelength adding/dropping ports are sensitive to wavelengths. Each port can add/drop only fixed wavelengths.
Thank you!
