What Is an E-Line Service
Ethernet Dedicated Line Service(E-Line) is a point-to-point service on the topology.
The different E-Line services and related bearer technologies.
1. Point-to-point transparently transmitted E-Line services
It is carried by port bearing (physical isolation)
2. VLAN-based E-Line services
It is carried by VLAN.
3. QinQ-based E-Line services
It is carried by VLAN.
4. E-Line services carried by PWs
It is carried by MPLS.
What Is an E-Lan Service
Ethernet Local Area Network(E-LAN) services are multipoint-to-multipoint services based on Layer 2 MAC address learning and forwarding.
The different E-LAN services and related bearer technologies.
1. E-LAN services based on IEEE 802.1d bridges
It is carried by the port bearing.
2. E-LAN services based on IEEE 802.1q bridges
It is carried by VLAN.
3. E-LAN services based on IEEE 802.1ad bridges
It is carried by VLAN.
4. E-LAN services carried by PWs
It is carried by MPLS.
What is the difference between E-LINE and E-LAN?
According to the preceding description, the biggest difference between E-LINE and E-LAN lies in different service topologies, which leads to different application scenarios.
