What is phantom voltage?

The phantom feed refers to the situation when a terminal provides power supply to a device connected to the terminal. For example, for a microphone to function correctly it may connect to an external power supply. If both the terminal and the microphone support the 48 V phantom voltage, however, the microphone can be connected to the terminal using the audio interface and no external power supply is required; the terminal supplies power for the microphone. Note that both the microphone and the terminal must be a match to the 48 V phantom voltage.
