Dear friend!
The ITU-T G.8080 framework is also called ASON framework or G.ASON.
ITU-T is a major setter of international standards in telecommunications. Based on its foundation in optical network standards, ITU-T promotes the intelligent optical network system-Automatic Switched Optical Network (ASON)-which is widely valued by operators and equipment vendors. Since 2000, the development of the ASON series standards has been undertaken by Study Group 15 (SG15). According to the convention of ITU, the formulation of the ASON standard starts from requirements and architecture, then to abstract protocols, and finally to concrete protocols.
G.8080 A reference architecture for the control plane of the Automatic Switched Optical Network (ASON) that supports the requirements identified in G.807. The reference architecture is described by key functional components and their interactions with each other, including the connection controller, route controller, link resource manager, traffic policyr, and call controller. Three network interfaces (reference points) are specified: the user network interface (UNI), the inside-network network interface (I-NNI), and the outside-network network interface (E-NNI). The proposal was recently revised for the first time, adding two features: discovery agents, termination and adaptation enforcers, and adding protection and recovery to connection availability enhancements. This recommendation is the basis of other ASON series recommendations.
