The Black Box page allows you to enable or disable the black box function and download black box data to a local file when the black box function is enabled.
A black box contains a memory and fault monitoring software. The black box memory is a built-in storage chip for recording fault information. The black box memory is independent of server hard disks. The black box memory supports up to 16 MB storage capacity and records the kernel information about a maximum of eight system breakdowns.
The fault monitoring software records the kernel information when the server operating system (OS) breaks down. The fault monitoring software (for example, iBMA) must be installed on the server before the black box function is used. For details about how to install and use the iBMA, see iBMA User Guide.
