What is an IP camera?
Let's first figure out something. The camera is the device that everyone understands - it can take pictures and videos. The IP, its full name is IP address. Then, how to understand the IP camera? It can be understood as a camera that carries an IP address.
Official interpretation: an IP camera (internet camera/IP protocol camera), is a type of digital video camera. As the name suggests, it is a camera that sends and receives data over a local area network (LAN) and/or the internet.

Advantages of IP cameras
Traditional cameras are mainly used for character photography, video recordings and so on. So what is special about IP cameras?
If you want to go out, but you are worried about thieves sneaking in the evening? The IP camera can monitor all the movements around your home in real time. If someone is near your home, the IP camera can notify you of potential dangers and even call the p*** directly.
If you have a husky in your family. During work, you want to know what it is doing, is it sleeping or doing damage? You can see the live video, which comes from the IP camera.
Maybe you didn't notice it before, then you can look up and see that our life is being protected by it. This is the IP camera, which builds us a smart city.

How does the IP camera work?
Although the IP camera brand is numerous, the working principle is almost the same.
IP cameras capture images in much the same way as a digital camera, and compress the files to transmit over the network. IP cameras may be used with a wired network connected via ethernet cable to a broadband modem or router, or wirelessly via a WiFi router.
How to configure an IP camera?
Different brands and different functions have different configuration methods.
Huawei provides convenient tools. Huawei SiMS is used to perform site survey planning, batch upgrade, and batch parameter configuration and maintenance for Huawei cameras to improve the camera configuration efficiency.
What is SDC?
SDC, its full name is Software-Defined Camera. The Huawei IP camera supports SDC.
The Software-Defined Camera (SDC) software architecture consists of the following layers:
1. Customized service software layer: Provides a variety of service functions required by end users and supports on-demand service loading. Both Huawei and third-party partners can provide customized service functions.
2. Common software capability service layer: Provides support for the service software layer to accelerate the productization of various customization scenarios and innovative services. The common software capabilities can be loaded on demand. Most of the common software capabilities are provided by Huawei. Third-party partners can also provide customized common software capabilities
3. Basic hardware capability service layer: Provides interfaces for using underlying hardware resources. Huawei provides all basic hardware capabilities at this layer based on the SDC hardware capability. This layer ensures the stability of interfaces at this layer without compromising the hardware capabilities and improves the capability for upper-layer service software to be compatible with multiple models of SDCs.
4. SDC service-oriented interface layer: Defines the specifications of communication interfaces among capability service layers to achieve robust simplicity, high efficiency, and excellent scalability.
