What is a VDC and what are its characteristics?
A Virtual Data Center (Virtual Data Center) is a kind of logical data center which is flexibly allocated based on business needs through logical isolation technology after pooling physical resources. It includes computing, storage and network resources needed by data center (realizing DCaaS service), and provides a virtual WYSIWYG data center to end users. In Service Center, it is a unit of virtual resources.
VDC is used to isolate resources. Users in VDC can self-apply for resources within a specified quota.
Characteristics:
1. Flexible matching organizational structure: VDC can be divided in a flexible and diverse way, according to the requirements of the scene.
It can be divided into departments, each department can manage its own resources independently, and VDCs are isolated from each other.
It can be divided according to the use areas, such as: developing VDC, testing VDC, etc.
2. VDC resource quota: it can set the resource use quota for each VDC (including CPU, memory, storage, network), VDC resource quota can be measured, cost visualization;
3. VDC resource construction, supporting the unified allocation of resources across multiple physical data centers;
4. A VDC is self-operating and maintaining. Each VDC is an independent management entity with self-operation and self-operation and maintenance capabilities.
In a VDC, users can self-apply, manage and monitor IT resources.
