What are the scenarios where eBackup must be deployed on physical machines?

What are the restrictions on deploying eBackup on physical machines? In which scenario must eBackup be deployed on VMs?

1. Physical machines must be deployed.
a. FusionSphere: The production storage uses virtualized storage, and the LAN-free is used for backup.
b. VMware: LAN-Free (SAN-Transport) networking is used for backup.
c. FusionSphere: FusionStorage is used as the production storage and is deployed in converged mode. The backup storage is FC SAN storage.

2. Scenarios where VMs are required
a. Backup VMs in VMware and use LAN-free (hot-add) transmission.
