In an OceanStor V3 storage system, data change Logs (DCLs) and LOGs are used in many value-added functions. The following table lists functions of DCLs and LOGs:
Features |
File Type |
Functions |
SmartMigration |
LOG |
An operation log that records write requests sent by hosts. The storage array determines whether dual-write is successful based on the I/O result returned by source and target LUNs. If the data is successfully written to the source LUN and target LUN using dual-write technology, log records will be cleared automatically. |
DCL |
A log that records differences between source and target data, including differences when data is not written to the source and target storage simultaneously or data is only written to the source or target storage. |
Synchronous remote replication (block service) |
LOG |
An operation log that records write requests sent by hosts. The storage array determines whether dual-write is successful based on the I/O result returned by source and target storage systems. If the data is successfully written to the source and target storage systems using dual-write technology, log records will be cleared automatically. |
DCL |
A log that records differences between data on the primary and secondary storage systems, including differences when data is not written to the source and target storage simultaneously or data is only written to the source or target storage. |
Asynchronous remote replication (block service) |
DCL |
A log that records differences between data on the primary and secondary storage systems. After synchronization operations are triggered, data in DCLs is replicated and then deleted. |
Asynchronous remote replication (file service) |
DCL |
A log that records differences between data on the primary and secondary storage systems. After synchronization operations are triggered, data in DCLs is deleted after all data is replicated. |
HyperMetro (block service) |
LOG |
An operation log that records write requests sent by hosts. The storage array determines whether dual-write is successful based on the I/O result returned by source and target storage systems. If the data is successfully written to the source and target storage systems using dual-write technology, log records will be cleared automatically. |
DCL |
A log that records differences between data at the primary and secondary sites, including differences when data is not written to the source and target storage simultaneously or data is only written to the source or target storage. |
HyperMirror |
DCL |
A log that records differences between mirror copies. |
