Advantages of low illumination cameras

Compared to ordinary illumination cameras, it is clear that the advantage of low-light cameras is their low-light characteristics, enabling clear color images even in poor lighting conditions.

Compared to infrared camera

Compared with infrared cameras, the advantages of low illumination cameras are as follows.

Good stability

Infrared cameras need to add an infrared lamp. The infrared lamps mainly include LED infrared lamps, array LED infrared lamps and laser infrared lamps. Their common features are large heat generation and short life. After the infrared lamp is damaged, the entire camera cannot be used, and due to the large heat generation, the internal temperature of the camera is too high, and the "warm drift" phenomenon of the electronic device may occur, which affects the stability of the entire camera.

Image is color

In a scene with a lot of infrared light, there is no way to achieve accurate white balance, so a typical color camera will have an infrared filter before the Sensor to filter the infrared light. When the infrared camera is turned on, there is a large amount of infrared light. At this time, the infrared filter is definitely not used to filter out the infrared light. Only the full filter can be used and switched to black and white.

Even image brightness

The infrared light of the infrared camera in the market can only illuminate the central part of the entire image scene, resulting in high brightness or even over-exposure of the center of the whole image, and the surrounding image is very dark or even black, which is known as the "flashlight phenomenon". Some cameras claim to have solved the "flashlight phenomenon", but only reduce the power of the infrared light or reduce the brightness of the image according to the brightness of the image in the central area. The problem of true image brightness unevenness is not solved.

No infrared out of focus

The band of infrared light is longer than the band of visible light, and there are small differences in the focus points of color images and black and white images. The image is clear during the day without the infrared light being activated; when the infrared light is turned on at night, the image is blurred and the detail loss is severe. Some cameras now use autofocus to solve this problem, but they are not well suited due to the inherent drawbacks of existing autofocus features, such as out of focus for a particular scene.

Good explanation, the low illumination cameras has more superior image quality than infrared cambers.
