What are requirements for the size of virtual tapes when a VTL is created?

VTL3500 V100R003
VTL6000 V100R003
VTL6900 V100R005

If a VTL device is connected to a physical tape library (PTL), the VTL to be created must have the same vendor (the same model is preferred) as the PTL. The drives in the VTL must have the same model. In addition, the size of virtual tapes must be the same as that of physical tapes.

If a VTL device is not connected to a PTL, you are advised to create a VTL of a mainstream vendor such as IBM and use the default value as the size of virtual tapes.
