HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

Hi, exports!

If we want to use the same storage for management and service storage, what are restrictions and limitations?

The storage is SAN storage.

Any solutions will be appreciated!

Dear!

l   Management and service storage use the same SAN storage, which is recommended in HCS Lite scenarios. This solution is not recommended in other scenarios.

l   To use this feature in other scenarios, the following restrictions must be met:

Different storage pools need to be used for management and services. Dorado does not support multiple storage pools, but will do in HCS 6.5.

In Type I scenarios, an alarm is generated for the EVS audit function. Management and services use the same SAN storage device. Currently, the cascading system and cascaded system audit peer volumes as orphan volumes.

In Type I scenarios, the cascading and cascaded systems share the same storage network plane.

Management storage does not use the overcommitment mode, and service storage uses the overcommitment mode. As a result, the service storage occupies the management storage space, causing a failure of the management storage capacity expansion.

Due to the coupling of management and service storage, the impact of storage upgrade becomes larger.

In the BMS scenario, the service storage supports only FC SAN. If the management storage uses IP SAN, the same storage cannot be reused. It is not recommended that the same storage system provide both IP and FC interfaces.

Hope can help you!
