Hi team!
Here is a case about what are possible problems in windows server 2003?
I hope it can be helpful when you learn about it :)
Question
What Are Possible Problems in Windows Server 2003?
Answer
The StorPort driver causes the system to suspend.
Inherent bugs of Windows Server 2003 StorPort drivers cause system breakdown at a high probability during link switchover.
For details, see section When Windows Server 2003 Is Sending Large-Sized Read and Write I/Os to a Large Number of LUNs, Removing a Controller or Cable Causes the Operating System to Hang.
The built-in cluster software cannot switch over services.
When all the connections are down between the host where quorum and resource disks reside and the array, the cluster management interface suspends and the peer node cannot take over services. Services are interrupted. This problem occurs at a low probability. You are advised to update the following patches:
volsnap.sys 5.2.3790.5059 (LDR)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2748349
msiscsi.sys 5.2.3790.4774 (LDR)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2277122
clusdisk.sys 5.2.3790.4700 (LDR)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982438
vssapi.dll 5.2.3790.4625 (LDR)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975928
disk.sys 5.2.3790.4006 (LDR)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929161
Disks fail to be initialized.
If Windows Server 2003 fails to initialize disks, UltraPath will not receive an error print.
You can solve the problem by restarting virtual disk service or the host.
For details, see section On a Host Running Windows Server 2003, Initialization of Some Disks Fails.
A blue screen of death (BSOD) error appears when a check version of iSCSI initiator is installed.
If you have installed a check version of iSCSI initiator, a blue screen of death (BSOD) error (error code 7e) appears when UltraPath is installed.
For details, see section 1.1.7.4 How Can I Solve the Problem if UltraPath Is Not Compatible with an iSCSI Initiator in Check Version on Windows Server 2003?
Dynamic disks are not supported.
In iSCSI networking, Windows Server 2003 does not support dynamic disks.
This is an inherent problem of Microsoft. For details, see section 1.1.8.2 What Can I Do if Windows Server 2003 iSCSI Initiators Do Not Support Dynamic Disks?
Those are the problems known in Windows Server 2003 that seriously affect operations.
The system may have other unknown issues. Since Windows Server 2003 is no longer maintained by Microsoft, great security risks exist.
You are not advised to use Windows Server 2003. Instead, use Windows Server2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012.
