Hi,

Device: HUAWEI S6720-50L-HI-24S, S5720-52X-PWR-SI-ACF (SVF-AS)

Software: V200R013C00SPC500

Patch: V200R013SPH009

Issue: I want to provide Wake-on-LAN on the customer network but they use MAC-Authen. So MAC-addresses are unavailable on the interfaces when the client isn't authenticated and WOL magic-packets will not be sent out the interface.

I know that some vendors have a setting to set dot1x/MAC-authen port direction, setting the port in forwarding mode and allowing it to use WOL. I can't find such a setting within the VRP CLI (HDX).

Is there a solution provided by Huawei to combine WOL and 802.1x/MAC-authen, working in SVF setup?

Hello,

As I understand, dot1x/MAC-authen just controls the inbound direction, it doesn't control the outbound direction, so by default, the broadcast traffic or unknown-unicast traffic can be sent out even if the user doesn't start the authentication.

And we also have a command to control the direction, by default, authentication just control the inbound packets.

 authentication control-direction

Function

The authentication control-direction command configures the direction of traffic controlled by the device.

By default, the device only controls the upstream traffic.

There is no other specific configuration, just enable the interface to forward directed broadcast packets using the 'IP forward-broadcast' command.

<HUAWEI> system-view

[HUAWEI] interface vlanif 100

[HUAWEI-Vlanif100] IP forward-broadcast
