Hello friends,

vrrp

As shown in the figure, a VRRP  is configured between R1 and R2 through sub-interfaces, but the VRRP backup group fails to be established.

The main configurations are as follows. Please help to see if there are any problems. Thank you.

#

interface GigabitEthernet0/0/1.10

 dot1q termination vid 10

ip address 192.168.10.253 255.255.255.0

 vrrp vrid 10 virtual-ip 192.168.10.254

 vrrp vrid 10 priority 90

 arp broadcast enable

Hi Sprout,

When VRRP is enabled on a Dot1q termination sub-interface, VRRP Advertisement packets need to be encapsulated with a VLAN tag so that VRRP Advertisement packets can be transmitted in the VLAN and negotiation can be performed between VRRP-enabled devices.

The dot1q vrrp command enables a Dot1q termination sub-interface to add a specified VLAN tag to VRRP Advertisement packets or remove a specified tag from VRRP Advertisement packets.

configuration:

[R1-GigabitEthernet0/0/1.10]dot1q vrrp vid 10

By the way, if the vlan-type dot1q sub-interface instead of the Dot1q termination sub-interface is used, you do not need to run this command.

For the differences between the two encapsulation modes, see https://forum.huawei.com/enterprise/en/dot1q-termination-vs-vlan-type-dot1q/thread/570035-863.
