Existing environment: One set of the old FC platform (XEN architecture R5 version) and one new FC platform (6.3.1 version of KVM architecture); rack servers are deployed in +FCSAN mode.
Question 1: Can VMs on the old XEN FC platform be migrated to a new KVM architecture using tools or by exporting and importing VMs?
Answer: The XEN -> KVM migration tool is being developed and will be used later. A new KVM platform needs to be deployed to migrate PCS.
Currently, the XEN version policy remains unchanged. The XEN patch solves only the most urgent problems. Common new requirements will not be accepted with high priority.
- PCS is short for Platform Cross Service.
- The XEN will not be supported in the future unless there is a bug.
- You can use the PCS mode to traverse the XEN to the KVM. The procedure may be too complicated:
1. Upgrade from R5 to R6.
2. The version is upgraded from R6 to R6 SPC108.
3. A KVM is set up for the new device.
4. Virtual PCS Controller server and PCS Agent on the KVM.
5. Connect to two XEN KVM sites.
6. Start the drill. If the drill is successful, start the switchover and verify services.
