1. Locate the site based on the lens block, monitoring angle and distance to avoid direct sunlight.


2. Network design: If Wi-Fi backhaul is used, pay attention to the AP coverage. It is recommended that dual APs cover one point.



Viewing Live Video from a Single Camera Prerequisites


Cameras have been added to the C/S client of the surveillance platform. For details, see "Adding Cameras on the Devices Tab Page One by One" and "Adding Cameras in Batches on the C/S Client".


Procedure


1. Log in to the C/S client of the surveillance platform as the admin user and click Live, as shown in Figure 1.

2. Double-click an online camera on the camera list or drag an online camera to a video pane. The live video is displayed, as shown in Figure 2.

NOTE:


a) During the live video viewing, do not overlap the video pane that is playing the live video with the window or dialog box of another program. The overlap may cause artifacts or even frame freezing.

b) If the live network is unstable, frame freezing or artifacts may occur on the live video. In this case, you are advised to enable the bandwidth adaptation function in the camera web system. After bandwidth adaptation has been enabled, the camera can reduce or increase the bit rate based on the network condition to ensure smooth live video playing.


3. (Optional) Zoom in on part of the live video image of a camera, as shown in Figure 3.

a) On the toolbar of the live video pane, click .


b) Select the area to zoom in on the live video image. The live video image that is zoomed in is displayed in another live video pane.


c) On the toolbar of the live video pane that is displaying the zoom-in live video image, click or or scroll the mouse wheel to zoom out or in on the live video image.


d) On the toolbar of the live video pane that is displaying the zoom-in live video image, click to take a snapshot of the current image.


e) On the toolbar of the original live video pane, click to disable the function of zooming in on part of the live video image.



4. (Optional) Select a video pane layout.

a) The default video pane layout is 4-pane. You can click to select another common layout, for example, full screen, 6-pane, and 9-pane, as shown in Figure 4.

b) If the common layouts cannot meet your requirements, you can customize a layout.


c) Click in any of the icons () and select another layout, as shown in Figure 5.

c) Click in , and click in the dialog box that is displayed. Customize the layout based on the current video pane layout, as shown in Figure 6.

d) Click a customized layout ID, for example, C1. Select the video panes to merge.


e) Click Merge.


NOTE:


- To restore the video panes to the original layout, click Reset.


- To split a merged video pane to multiple video panes, click Split. If six panes are merged into one video pane, you can click Split to restore the layout to six panes.


- Click OK.


- Click in , and click the saved layout, for example, C1, in the dialog box that is displayed.


5. (Optional) Configure a hotspot video pane layout, as shown in Figure 7.

a) On the toolbar of a live video pane, click to display the hidden buttons.


b) Click .


6. (Optional) Locate and play back the recordings within one hour before the current time.

b) Recordings within one hour before the current time are played in the current video pane, as shown in Figure 8.

c) View the recording. You can click to stop recording playback.


7. (Optional) Right-click in a live video pane and choose an item from the shortcut menu to implement the corresponding function. Table 1 describes the shortcut menu items.

Snapshots
  • To save a snapshot to the server, choose Snapshots > Platform Snapshot.
  • To save a snapshot to the local computer, choose Snapshots > Local Snapshot.

Manual Recording
  • To save a recording to the local computer, choose Manual Recording > Local Recording.
  • To save a recording to the PU, choose Manual Recording > PU Recording. NOTE:
    PU-based manual recording refers to the process of saving the manually recorded video to the PUs during live video viewing. If a camera has an SD card and is directly connected to the MPU, recordings are stored in the SD card. If a camera is connected to the MPU through the NVR, DVR, or DVS, recordings are stored in the NVR, DVR, or DVS.


  • To save a recording to the server, choose Manual Recording > Server Recording.

Manual Real-time Backup
Manually backs up live video of the camera to the backup domain in real time.
For details, see "Setting Manual Real-Time Backup".
Video search
  • To go to the Playback page, choose Video search > Playback.
  • To go to the Video > Recording Download page, choose Video search > Download.
Add Bookmark
Adds a bookmark for the recording of a camera. During later recording playback, you can search for the recording by bookmark.
Voice Intercom
The voice intercom function enables staff at the surveillance center to talk with personnel at the surveillance sites during live video viewing.
NOTE:
The voice intercom function is available only after the audio device is enabled.


Voice broadcast
Enables the voice broadcast function.

Display Video on Video Wall
Displays live video on the video wall.
Set as Alarm Pane
Sets a live video pane as an alarm pane. After the policy of linking an alarm to live video viewing is configured, the alarm pane will be used to play the alarm-triggered live video. NOTE:
  • By default, the alarm pane can be used to play only alarm-triggered video. To play live video in the alarm pane, choose Settings > Alarm Parameters on the C/S client and set Play common live video in alarm pane to On.
  • If Play common live video in alarm pane is set to Off, after you set the video pane that is playing live video as an alarm pane, live video stops being played in the video pane.
  • Do not perform local recording or local snapshot taking in an alarm pane. Otherwise, local recording or local snapshot taking may be interrupted.



Load Map
Loads an electronic map.
Video Display Parameters
Adjusts the brightness, contrast, chroma, and saturation for video from an online camera.
OSD Parameter
Sets OSD parameters.
Add to Sequencing
Adds a camera to a specific sequencing resource.
Intelligent analysis
Performs PU-based intelligent analysis on live video.
NOTE:
If is displayed next to a camera on the camera list, the camera supports intelligent analysis.


Enable Tracking
Enables the function of tracking objects in the shooting range during live video viewing.
NOTE:
Only PTZ dome cameras support this function.


Restart PU
Restarts a camera.
Full Screen
Displays the entire video window in full-screen mode.
Enable Manual Positioning
Rotates a PTZ dome camera to the specified position. For details, see 6.
NOTE:
Only the smart tracking device and panoramic surveillance device support this function.


Enable Manual Tracking
Enables a PTZ dome camera to track the selected object. For details, see 7.
NOTE:
Only the smart tracking device and panoramic surveillance device support this function.



8. (Optional) Use the multiple windows function to display the live video feeds, recordings, or electronic maps on the primary and secondary displays.
