  HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

Hi my friends !!!

Today I changed one HArd disk in my RAID5 in VCN 3020 (7 disks) , and then I see this alarm.

ALM-308521709 Hard Disk About to Expire

And Raid group statur - RESTORING DATA

And see that server didn't accept new disk.....What does this alarm mean ? This disk I took from this server, it was installed in this server as "Active Spare disk" - which I think means that I can use this disk as new for any problem disks in this server (like RMA procedure)

so, What should I do ? Buy new two disk, or I can restore my new disk,,,,old disk I think I can't restore (reboot server didn't help)

Thanks

Hello, dear!

Welcome to our community!

This alarm is generated when a disk is about to expire.

1. Log in to the OMU portal, choose Storage > Disk Manage, and check whether the disk is about to expire.

  • If so=>2

  • If not=>3

2. If the RAID group status is abnormal, restore the RAID group status and replace the disk. Then check whether the alarm is cleared.

  • If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required.

  • If the alarm persists=>3

3. If multiple disks are abnormal, replace them one by one.

  • Then check whether the alarm is cleared.

  • If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required.

For details, see ALM-308521709 About-to-Expire Disk.

Hello, Disks generally have a lifespan of over 30,000 hours.
When this alarm occurs, I suggest you replace the disk.

Hi thanks, nad one more question.... I understand that disk has lifespan, but how this parameter calculated if this disk (which I think is new) didn't work in server and was there as empty disk without any work.

Can we turn back to zero this parameter ? If I am sure that disk was just under power in the server rack.

Hello, this working time refers to the cumulative working time, if your disk is not used, it will not count the time.
