Hi, im looking to test a USG6390, in order to do this, on my edge Cisco switch I will set a port to monitor the link to the main router, i can then plug this port into the USG so it will see all the traffic going in and out of the site, what is the best configuration so I can then see how the USG6390 is reporting on the traffic ?

thanks

Hi Stu,

Sorry for the late reply but I had to try it before I post answers to you.

I configured a Huawei switch for span and configured our Huawei USG to monitor that port. What I did on USG was to create a new zone and add monitoring interface to that zone. I have configured it as Layer 2 interface and created a policy so I can log the packets that matched it. Please start the configuration, I will help you as much as I can on the road.

Hi,

If I understand you correctly, you want to mirror you main router traffic to USG so you can monitor the traffic. I assume you have already configured Cisco part, if not please let me know.

I haven't tried it yet but i think you should set your USG interface to Switch mode and observing mode. I will try it tomorrow and let you know.

yes you are correct, the reason is so I can get a understanding of what the USG will show in its reports etc before we actually put it within the network, im hoping to leave it monotoring for a few weeks, then run some reports on what its seen...

thanks :)
