Hi,

Today I want to share some useful procedures help you in maintenance works .

1-     Disable automatic VC-4 loop release

Usually we need to make loops in VC-4 level while doing maintenance , as the loop is one of the most important tool for locating faults .

But loop in high level signal is dangerous as it may lead to service cut for a large mount of small services inside the VC-4 , also if you make loop toward the remote side in the first VC-4 in STM-1/STM-4/STM-16/STM64 in linear network this will also loop the DCC bytes and therefore  you will not be able to release the loop using local management , and then  you will need either to have DCN management access to the remote NE or to go locally to the NE and release the loop .

As a provision Huawei U2000 default setting is based on  automatic release to the loop after definite time (5-minutes). ( automatic loop release function)

But we sometimes need to have long time check especially while acceptance tests , commissioning or error source locating , so we sometimes need to disable the automatic loop release function , and to do that you should follow these steps .

In U2000

Configuration > NE Batch Configuration >> Automatic Disabling of NE Function

In NCE

Configuration > Auto NE Function Disabling

This menu has a lot of loop types to be managed just as appear in the screen shot

2-     Showing SDH trail of services created within the same NE

 - (FOR EXAMPLE VC-12 )   As known the VC-12 SDH Trail appears only if the VC-12 is created with in the VC4 Server Trail , and VC4 Server Trail can be created between NEs and can not be created within the same NE .So how to create and show VC-12 SDH Trail between ports in the same NE , for example from 1- SLT1-1 port to  1- SLT1-6 port ?

First – the only ways for creation VC-12 services within the same NE is using manual Cross-connection or command line but not using Trail .

Then – to show the Trail after creation you need to make Trail search

In U2000

Service>SDH Trail >> Search for SDH Trail

In NCE

Service>SDH Trail >> Search for SDH Trail

The service created with in the same NE will not appear in the discovered service but in discrete services , so you just need to get to the discrete services from

In U2000

Service>SDH Trail >> Manage SDH Discrete services

In NCE

Service>SDH Trail >> Manage SDH Discrete services

Discrete

U2000

Then make filter based on the NE and board , after that just right click on the discrete service and choose

( Convert to MONO Nodal Trail ) , then the VC-12 Trail will change to be complete Trail .

MONO

I hope to be useful to you

Regards

Thank you so much Malik3000 for your wonderful sharing!

The Automatic Disabling of NE Function is usually disabled during equipment commissioning in the early phase of the project. It is recommended that this function be enabled after the commissioning is complete and put into use.

When creating VC-12s on the same NE, I remember that the VC-12s are used in the scenario where E1 regeneration is performed within a site. It can also be used as a cross-connect connector for E1 signals to reduce the trouble of patching E1 cables on the DDF.
