Huawei is constantly developing new versions of OLT software, thus repairing and improving its functions. Therefore, we come to the situation that we need to upgrade OLT. Sometimes, we do an OLT upgrade to solve some problems with it. Because of that, I will show you the upgrade process on OLT. For example, I will use OLT MA5800. In this first article, I will talk about the TFTP server for an upgrade.
For upgrade OLT we must have a PC, console cable, utp cable, TFTP server and .bin file for OLT upgrade. First, on our PC we must have TFTP server and .bin file for OLT upgrade. We can download, install and configure the TFTP server.
Generall, there are many different and free TFTP servers for download on the internet. For TFTP server, we can use tftpd64 or tftpd32. Tftpd64 is free and it is ready for use like DHCP, TFTP, DNS, SNTP and Syslog servers and TFTP client. You can download this Tftpd64 on the next link: https://pjo2.github.io/tftpd64/.
After download Tftpd64 and run this software, we need to follow the next installation steps:
When we finished the installation, we will see an icon on the desktop. The next two pictures show us the icon and main window of Tftpd64.
We stay on the Tftp Server tab. The most important things are to choose the location of our file to upgrade and the local ip address of the PC. With the button Browse we find the folder with our file for an upgrade. After we found it, we have to click the button OK and in the main window of the Tftpd64 we will see the location (Current Directory).
It is necessary for the PC and OLT to be in the same range, so we put a static IP address for the PC, e.g. X.X.104.10, while for OLT it will be X.X.104.2. When we set the address in the control panel, in the main window Tftpd64 in the Server interfaces should be a static ip address PC.
In these steps, we prepared TFTP server on our PC for upgrade OLT. In the next articles, I will show how we connect PC and OLT and the upgrade process.
