Problem Information
Item | Description |
Storage type | Distributed storage |
Product version | FusionStorage 8.0.0; FusionStorage 8.0.1 |
Problem type | Performance |
Keyword | Large objects; Single stream; Bandwidth |
Problem Symptom
The bandwidth is lower than expected when a client uploads large objects in single-stream mode.
Problem Diagnosis
Check the network configurations of the client and switch ports connected to the client.
If the network configurations are correct, check the model of the CPUs used by the client. The CPU models that can meet the performance requirements for uploading large objects in single-stream mode include but are not limited to:
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2658 v4 @2.30GHz
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2440 0 @2.40GHz
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 0 @2.00GHz
The CPU models that cannot meet the performance requirements for uploading large objects in single-stream mode include but are not limited to:
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2420 0 @1.90GHz
Causes
Single-stream upload of large objects has certain requirements for the single-thread capability of a CPU. If the single-thread capacity of a CPU used by a client is poor, the bandwidth may be lower than expected when the client uploads large objects in single-stream mode.
Solution
Replace the CPUs with ones that meet the performance requirements.
Check After Recovery
Replace the CPUs used by the client and upload large objects in single-stream mode again. Check whether the bandwidth of the client is close to that of other clients.
Suggestion and Summary
You can locate a performance problem from the hardware aspect (such as comparing hardware differences among devices of the same type) after confirming that it is not caused by software.
