Internet Of Things  (IoT) to IoE.

Dear Friends.

Have you ever wondered by taking all the physical places and things of the world and connecting them to the internet?

By next year (2022), it is predicted to have 29 Billion devices on internet while population to reach 7.7 billion and by 2025 reach to 100 billion connection generating 163 Zettabyte data.

 IoT

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.”

Or, IoT is the network of physical objects—devices embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity—that enables these objects to collect and exchange data.`

Blocks of IoT

IoT is whole suite of process containing multiple entities , The main building block are :

  • Sensors/Devices

  • Connectivity

  • Data Processing

  • User interface

Sensors/Devices

They collect data from environment. This data could be as simple as a temperature reading or as complex as a full video feed.

IoT Layers

Blocks involved in IoT systems

Connectivity:

Sensors/devices can be connected to the cloud through a variety of methods including: cellular, satellite, WiFi, Bluetooth, low-power wide-area networks (LPWAN), connecting via a gateway/router or connecting directly to the internet via Ethernet.

Data Processing :

Once the data gets to the cloud software performs some kind of processing on it.

User Interface:

Next, the information is made useful to the end-user in some way. This could be via an alert to the user (email, text, notification, etc). For example, a text alert when the temperature is too high in the company’s cold storage.

Network Layers of IoT

Network layer is an essential part of IoT eco Cycle, Common types of communication are wireless communication are Wi-Fi, Cellular, Bluetooth, NFC & some devices (smartphones & tablets) use a combination of wireless communication methods to connect to different devices.

Various IoT Use Cases

IoT is adopted in almost every walk of life from home to vehicles to industry to cattle farms.

Example - IoT – Smart School

Here is one example for understanding – The Smart School.

Ending Remarks

IoT is like interaction of Humans with machines using internet but now it is moving towards IoE where Machine to be communicated with machines or even with process that’s why it is called Internet of Everything (IoE)
