Dear friend!
It is indicating that the traffic flow at a monitored object (such as a port, a service flow, or a queue) exceeds the preset threshold. Generally, the FLOW_OVER alarm is generated.
The FLOW_OVER alarm does not necessarily mean packet loss.
For example, packet loss occurs if the actual traffic at a port is higher than the traffic tolerance and if flow control is disabled at the port. The FLOW_OVER alarm, however, has no impact on the system or ongoing services if the actual traffic at a port is lower than the traffic tolerance.
Solution:
1. Determine the alarmed object (such as a port, a tunnel, or a PW) based on the alarm information on the NMS. Check the actual traffic and traffic thresholds configured for the alarmed object.
2. Check whether the upper threshold can be increased. If yes, increase the upper threshold to a value higher than the actual traffic. If not, proceed to the next step.
3. Check for a network storm or a source that transmits a large amount of invalid data. Then, eliminate the source that transmits a large amount of invalid data and check whether the alarm is cleared.
4. If the alarm persists, enable flow control for the alarmed object or use QoS policies at the opposite end to decrease the traffic to be transmitted from the opposite end.
Thank you!
