Hello, Community!
This post explains the procedure for troubleshooting the failure of ending the Raman system IPA function. Please check out the information displayed below.
ISSUE DESCRIPTION
During the runtime of a network, the IPA function starts after a fiber cut occurs. The lasers at the output optical ports of the OA boards at the two ends of the fiber are automatically shut down. After the fiber is restored, the IPA function does not automatically turn on the lasers at the output optical ports. As a result, the output optical power of the OA boards is not restored.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
The possible causes of the IPA ending failure are as follows:
when the IPA protection group is not configured with any detection board but is configured with only auxiliary detection boards, all the auxiliary detection boards report certain IPA-triggering alarms;
the preset optical power threshold for the detection board is too great;
Parameter values of the IPA function are incorrectly set.
PROCEDURE
Cause 1: When the IPA protection group is not configured with any detection board but is configured with only auxiliary detection boards, all the auxiliary detection boards report certain IPA-triggering alarms.
1. Check for alarms, such as R_LOS, R_LOF, R_LOC and OSC_RDI, on each auxiliary detection board. Check whether all auxiliary detection board reports these IPA-triggering alarms. If all auxiliary detection boards reports these alarms, check the fiber connection of each auxiliary detection board.
2. If the fiber connection of each auxiliary detection board is proper, check whether an auxiliary detection board is faulty.
Cause 2: The preset optical power threshold for the detection board is too great.
3. Measure the actual receive optical power of the detection board, and compare the result with the value of Detection Board Threshold (dBm).
4. If the actual receive optical power is lower than the value of Detection Board Threshold (dBm), recalculate and change the value of Detection Board Threshold (dBm). Ensure that the value is smaller than the actual receive optical power.
Cause 3: Parameters of the IPA function are incorrectly set.
5. In the NE Explorer, select the NE and choose Configuration > IPA Management.
6. Click Query in the IPA window. Determine whether the parameters for the IPA function are correctly set. Do as follows to check the parameters.
SOLUTION
If the issue persists after you take the preceding measures, set the value of Enable Flag in the IPA window to Disabled to disable the IPA function. In the WDM interface window of the corresponding board, ensure that Laser Status of the transmit optical interface of Control Implementation Board is set to On.
Check whether services are restored. If not, query the alarms of the NE and see the Alarms and Performance Events Reference to handle the alarms and faults on the NE. If the services are restored, contact Huawei engineers to rectify the fault of the IPA function if necessary.
Check whether the values of Off Period (s), On Period (0.01s) and Testing Period (s) for the IPA pair at one end of a line are the same as those for the IPA pair at the other end of the line.
Check whether the values of On Period (0.01s) for the two IPA pairs are the same as the recommended value that is calculated based on the number of intermediate stations.
