Today, I'd like to share a case.
Problem Description
NCE fails to upload data of OSN 9800 U16 NEs. The following error message is displayed:
Start sync full error. Unexpected element block point.
Problem Analysis
1.According to NCE logs, NCE delivered VPLS data collection (blockpoint belongs to VPLS) when uploading the NE data. However, OSN 9800 U16 V100R001 does not support VPLS.
2. Further analysis shows that NCE issues the VPLS collection instruction because the version read by NCE is V100R002, not V100R001. V100R002 supports the VPLS feature. Check the device version information. It is found that the device contains two versions:
3. After confirming with the frontline personnel, the customer has performed an NE upgrade, but the V100R002 software package is not activated after being loaded. Therefore, two versions are available on the NE. The active version (actual version) is V100R001, and the standby version is not V100R002. However, the version obtained by NCE through command words is not V100R002. The V100R002 supports the VPLS feature. Therefore, a request for collecting VPLS data is issued during the upload. As a result, the upload fails.
In this scenario, the customer needs to activate the loaded software package to complete the upgrade and then upload the software package.
Root Cause
The customer has upgraded the NE before, but the V100R002 software package is not activated after being loaded. Therefore, two versions are available on the NE. The active version (actual version) is V100R001, and the standby version is not V100R002. However, the version obtained by NCE through command words is not V100R002. The V100R002 supports the VPLS feature. Therefore, a request for collecting VPLS data is issued during the upload. As a result, the upload fails.
Solution Description
The customer needs to activate the loaded software package to complete the upgrade and then upload the software package.
