(Value range: centralized storage and distributed storage)
Product Version V3
Fault Category Alarm
Keyword: BBU, about to expire
[Symptom]
An alarm indicating that a BBU is about to expire is generated on the OceanStor 5600 V3. The alarm information is as follows:
2020-03-20 04:36 0xF00D2001E Warning None The BBU module (Controller Enclosure CTE0, BBU module 3, item 02359137, SN 210235913710H7000217) is expiring.
[Troubleshooting Roadmap]
1. Ensure that the current version is earlier than V300R003C20SPC200.
2. Check that the config configuration file BBU3 (CTE0.3) is created in 2017, which has not reached the eight-year expiration date of the BBU.

3. Open the BMC management module log, search for \log_controller_0B_MAIN\Messages\BMC\tmp\BMCLOG\smma (smmb) \ app_curlog.tar.gz at the corresponding time point, search for type:4, and find BBU3. Three seconds later, the status of BBU3 changes from type:47/49 to type:48/50, and the value of battery capacity FCC is restored.

Remarks:
Type:47 Short-term battery pack capacity attenuation BBU service life pre-expiration alarm
type:48 The service life pre-expiration alarm is cleared.
Type:49 Battery Pack Capacity Short-Term Deterioration BBU Life Expiration Alarm
type:50 Service Life Expiration Alarm Clearance
type: 125 The status of the battery pack register changes. This is an event.
[Cause]
The BMC periodically detects that the BBU battery level is much lower (no filtering is performed in earlier versions). As a result, the BBU (pre-)expiration alarm is falsely reported. This alarm cannot be cleared. Remove and then insert the BBU to update the status.
[Solution]
Temporary measure: Remove and insert the BBU that reports the alarm.
Solution: Upgrade the device to a version later than V300R003C20SPC200.
[Post-Recovery Check]
The alarm is cleared when the BBU status recovers.
[Suggestion and Summary]
None
[Applicability]
Versions earlier than V300R003C20SPC200
