Hello im recently having trouble with port forwarding as my routers port forwading page got a update, which lost all my ports i had forwarded and now i can't manage to forward any for the life of me. In the image attached are the fields required to forward ports on my router. As a note all of my port forwading was done for hosting game servers between me and some friends and i have been canyouseeme.org to check and see if my ports were open.

Below is a list of option i have in my router and my understanding of what they are or do if anyone knows what im doing wrong or missing any help would be greatly appreciated.

Interface: I dont know what this does i had it set to one of the results ending with ETH as im connecting to the router with a ethernet cable.

Protocol: tcp/udp i don't know exactly what the difference between udp/tcp but i know how to set it the the right option.

Remot host ip address: I dont think i need this

External port start/end: I usually just set this to the port i want to open but i understand it can be different to the enternal port for safety.

Internal host IP address: This is the ipv4 to my device hosting the server

Internal start/end port: the port i want to forward in order to host a server

Mapping name: irrelevant

Hi!

Interface: I dont know what this does; I had it set to one of the results ending with ETH, as I'm connecting to the router with a ethernet cable.
=======The interface should be the export interface of your device, in other words, the interface that connects to the ISP.

Protocol: tcp/udp I don't know exactly what the difference is between them, but I know how to set it as the right option.

=======Great. Put simply, UDP is not reliable, while the TCP connection is reliable.

Remot host ip address: I dont think I need this.
=======This is your visitor IP address. If you don't want to translate the visitor, you can ignore it.

External port start/end: I usually just set this to the port I want to open, but I understand it can be different from the enternal port for safety.
=======Yes, you are right.

Internal host IP address: This is the ipv4 to my device hosting the server.
=======Correct

Internal start/end port: the port I want to forward in order to host a server.
=======Correct, this is the server service port,

Mapping name: irrelevant

Hello and thank you for the quick reply. unfortunately this has not helped my issue a great deal, i was hoping from this i would be able to forward ports again but at current I'm unable to do so. So i thought i might go into more detail.

for example if i wanted to forward port 10999 UDP from my device 192.168.1.7 this is what i'd do.

Interface:INTERNET_TRO69_ETH
Protocol: UDP
Remot host: -
External/internal port: 10999
Internal host IP address: 192.168.1.7
Internal start/end port: 10

Hello, Sorry ran out of charters
Internal start/end port 10999

With this the only thing I'm uncertain of is what to set the interface to. however i have changed the interface option to all 6 options with the port still not being forwarded so I'm unsure if this is even the problem. i have also tried allowing this port through my firewall which didn't help.
thank you

The interface option should be the WAN connection. And the configuration seems fine, can you try telnet the port from the internet, to verify if the port is blocked.
Here we have the configuration guide video, it may help you https://forum.huawei.com/enterprise/en/how-to-configure-huawei-ont-port-mapping/thread/666285-100181

Hi FD_God,
Will you please help to test your service in your local area network to confirm that the service is OK to visit. Based on your information, there is no error configuration.

Hi
I would be happy to test but how would you like this test to be conducted a little confused as to what you want exactly.

Just visit your server service from another PC in your local network. For example, your service is implemented on server 192.168.1.7, you can try visit the service from PC 192.168.1.10 or any other IP.

Ok when trying to connect via another computer on the network i get Connecting To 192.168.1.7...Could not open connection to the host, on port 10999: Connect failed. however i did notice when using the ping command i could ping other computers on the local network but when trying to do the same to mine it would say connection timed out that help in any way?

Well, it seems that you didn't enable the service on the server yet, or the service is not running on the correct protocol. Can you please check that?

The protocol is definitely UDP as for enabling it on the server if your talking about my machine no idea what you mean it is enabled in the router settings.

I mean maybe, we can try test the function on the local network, without the ISP involved, so that we could locate the problem.

I'm sorry about that cannot solve your problem. Actually, I am trying to divide the problem into pieces and perform detection for each piece. This is our common idea in troubleshooting. Hope this could give you an idea. :D
