Hello,

in Ethernet network ,Ethernet link could be in:-

1-   Native ethernet similier to when you make direct connect between switches or direct connect between PC and switch that called L2 .

2-MPLS :- that means to assign IP for the ports connected between the NEs then create Tunnels between these ports , after that you must create small tunnel inside the big tunnel called PW for each service you create .

Dear friend!
According to the screenshot, L2 and PWE3 belong to different link attributes. In the figure, the links in the L2 area belong to the client-side links (access layer). The links in the PWE3 area belong to the links (at the transport layer) on the transport network.

Thank you!

ok ok. So if there is interconnection between multiple NE's in the transmission network can we call that interconnection as PW ?

Like the link between NE1 and NE7 is one MPLS Tunnel ?

no
the ports toward NEs called NNI (Network Network interface )between these ports no need to establish any thing but fiber .
except if you have NEs and the connection between the NNI ports is Ethernet and you choose to use MPLS technology , then you must create Tunnel and inside the Tuneel PW for each service you create between these NEs

MPLS is not used when there is optical fibre connection between NE's ?

Ethernet can be over Fiber optic not only on UTP cables

oh ok ok. in the above image all rings are GE rings. So can we say that they are using MPLS ?

You can make them work as Native ethernet , so you dont need to operate MPLS or you can apply MPLS so you need to create Tunnels and pw
